Another crappy Iphone picture. LOL. One of these days, I’ll use the Nikon 7000 and try to get a good shot. I got off work a little early and joined the Hiway 101 traffic jam, heading North to Wine Country .
It’s a 50-60 minute commute to go 30 miles, ugh. My youngest daughter working on an after school project (Due tomorrow, of course 🙂 ) has the kitchen table covered. I still have a little daylight to to power wash the side of the house, so I can stack the firewood I just brought home from Tahoe.
The neighbor put this pressure washer on the curb for the recycler to pick up, he said it wouldn’t start. I grabbed it, rebuilt the carb and had it running like a champ. Today, it started right up, but it wasn’t long before it started belching smoke and sputtering. It looks like oil and gas in the carb and crankcase, probably a stuck valve or cam issue. This thing may end up back on the curb real soon. 🙂 (4-20-14-Pressure washer update LOL: I finally fixed this thing. Replaced the carb and the fuel pump. It works like a champ! 4+ months later)
By now it’s dark, everyone is hungry and playing Bananagrams….So I whipped this up in 20 minutes and was lucky to even remember to take a picture before diving into the meal. The picture doesn’t do it justice at all. It could be staged much better…
12-15                    Shrimp – Cleaned with tails on
1-2     Packages    Ramen noodles or Soba noodles
1        Tbs             Extra Virgin Olive Oil
3-4     Cups          Cabbage sliced thin
3-4     Julienned   Baby carrots
3-4     Grated       Baby carrots
          Sprinkle    Garlic powder
1        Clove        Garlic – Sliced thin
1        Thumb      Ginger – Sliced thin
1        Sprinkle    Fried Onions (From any Asian store)
Salt and Pepper  To taste
Garnish with cilantro or parsley.
Boil some water for the noodles and cook according to packaged instructions. I used Top Ramen noodles and discarded the seasoning packet. Drain and set aside.
Sprinkle garlic powder and salt and pepper on shrimp to taste. Place some julienned carrots around the shrimp and wrap some noodles around the shrimp. The noodles will hold the carrots against the shrimp, set aside and continue until shrimp are all wrapped. You may want to leave a few shrimp unwrapped.
Add the oil, garlic and ginger to the pan over medium heat and saute shrimp. The noodles will crisp up a bit. This should take a couple minutes per side. The garlic and ginger also got crispy while I was sauteing the shrimp. I chopped it up and sprinkled over the dish as a garnish.
Put some fresh cabbage in individual serving bowls. Place some of the remaining noodles on top of the cabbage. Arrange a few noodle wrapped shrimp on top and add a few plain shrimp. Sprinkle with the fried onions and ginger/garlic and little cilantro or parsley. Add your fav dressing and you’re good to go.
This can served with numerous dressings. One kid put Ranch on it, another put Hoisin sauce. I like blue cheese salad dressing. Sometimes a blend of hoisin and ranch or blue cheese. An easy Asian vinaigrette works great too.
It took longer to write this up, than it did to prep, cook, eat and clean this… 🙂
Enjoy, Ciao…
